Netbeans vs. TextMate

My current job at Integrum has required me to learn a whole lot more about TextMate. TextMate has always been my lightweight editor since I got a Mac. I primarily used it to quickly edit files that were temporary or didn't have any real sense of a project to tie them together. TextMate is certainly worthy of more than what I used it for. Where TextMate's value lies as a Ruby/Rails editor/IDE is left to our discovery.

I've tried to avoid blogging about blogging, but this deserves it's own post: Upon Derek Neighbors' recommendation, I will be doing a series of posts that compare features of Netbeans against features of TextMate. Part of this is a throw-down. Two apps enter, and one will be left standing. Competition is fun, but my scheme is to learn more about both editors and how they measure against each other. If I miss something, but sure to drop a comment.

It should be known that Netbeans will likely always have a place in my heart. If this bias spoils the competition, then this exercise should be considered educational.
